Their matrimony might be at a baby stage but so far, the Turays have survived fatal impending threats to their union. As a footballer, philanthropist, and national icon, Mohamed Buya Turay, similar to all celebrities, has had his share of public attention. Every move he makes falls under the category of public interest. On the other hand, Suad Baydoun, now Mrs. Turay has been a radio/tv personality for as long as I can remember. She has experienced some thrills of the public spotlight. Therefore, it is plausibly uncommon for such a romantic combination to not fall under attention and negative media outpour.

THE PROXY WEDDING SCANDAL – The media erupted over a month ago when news resurfaced over Mohamed Buya Turay’s absence on his wedding day. The revelation that was made by Mr. Turay stoked global media interest. Trolls came running in their numbers hoping to steal the wedding delight. The scenes were chaotic and dramatic. Worst of it all, there were many conflicting versions with everybody wanting to forge an opinion. It was as if proxy weddings weren’t a thing after all. Nevertheless, the Turays” ship was steady and determined to surmount all challenges. I mean, from a practical angle, relationships have been destroyed as a result of persistent public opinions. Thus, the Turays deserve some credit!

SOCIAL MEDIA LIES AND BLACKMAIL – This was a sordid and humiliating experience, especially for the newlywedded bride. The recent sex tape scandal seemingly brought its share of speculations. It initially started as a little drop only to transform into a blackmailing scheme. Nobody expected it to be a tell-tale signal that the Turays will be affected. A falsified alleged sex tape evolved claimed to include Mrs. Turay. Although the individual did not qualify to be a spitting image of her, many quickly took to social media hoping to infuriate the situation. It wasn’t her! Yet, social media commentators and inquisitors did not waste time throwing a jab at their matrimonial home. It was a disrespectful sighting.

For the first time, Mr. Turay attempted to make a public statement about his love life. However, after pleas from his fans to ignore the negativity, everything died down. The Turays continue securing their relationship.

Now, we don’t expect marriages to be rosy. They can never be. However, there should be room for compromise and steadfastness. The Turays are a perfect replica of that description. Most importantly, for every marriage to work, especially one that has gained the spotlight, little attention should be given to social media rantings. For if you listen to the voice of the market, you won’t buy anything. Regardless of the backbiters, naysayers, “ojukokoros”, and doubting Thomases, the Turays continue to be there for each other.
